If you are buying or selling a home, it is important to determine the right price. Knowing the market trends empowers you both as a buyer or a seller.
This post is to introduce the Price Check series that will share some of this knowledge and help you understand your market.
Every day I hope to post a housing market profile for one of the 28 Ottawa neighbourhoods featured in our location lab.
The profiles will highlight how many homes, including detached, semi-detached and row houses, sold in the neighbourhood over the past 6 months. A chart will be included that will break down how many homes sold in each price range: $250,000 to $300,000; $300,000 to $350,000…all the way to $600,000+.
Each post will also indicate the current price range and average price of homes on the market in the neighbourhood.

For those neighbourhoods with a critical mass of condominiums, I will do a similar analysis. In addition to current and past price ranges,the average condominium fee for condos sold and currently on the market will also be included.

Being confident in your decision to buy or sell your home begins with knowing the neighbourhood market you have an interest in. I hope this series will help you do just that.
