If you have already spent some time looking at our Location Lab, then you have a good general sense of the people who live there. That said, you may the curious type, and still be hungry for more data. Here are a couple of interesting sites we found that provide some extra food for thought:
Environics Analytics PRIZM C2 Geo-Demographic Lifestyle Lookup: Hit the "Lifestyle Lookup" button found on the front page, and type in a postal code to gain evidence-based insight into the composition and unique attributes of a specific neighbourhood. - The Ottawa Neighbourhood Study: Funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and based at the University of Ottawa’s Institute of Population Health, this multi-disciplinary study aims to better understand the physical and social factors that affect Ottawa’s health and well-being.
- The Federation of Citizens’ Associations of Ottawa-Carleton: This forum of community associations and non-profit organizations share information about issues and act jointly when appropriate. The Federation maintains a list of links to neighbourhood-based associations.
- If you can’t help but want to know more about the relative safety in a particular community, check out this handy dandy tool called Crime Reports. It searches for crime reports and offers detailed comparative analyses.
